Australia’s Mackenzie Tricker claimed the overall victory at Pala Raceway’s third round of the 2016 Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX), her first win of the this year’s series.

Trading moto wins it was Obermeyer Suzuki’s Tricker and Team Green Kawasaki’s Kylie Fasnacht who went head-to-head in an epic battle for the overall win on the day.

In moto one Tricker was able to make the pass for the lead on the opening lap and establish a small gap over second as the rest of the field sorted itself out.

Kawasaki’s Fasnacht started to carve her way through traffic and less than a lap to go Fasnacht put a last-second pass on Tricker to steal the moto one victory with Tricker dropping to third.

Moto two saw the New South Wales native take the early lead once again, this time able to hold on for the entire moto taking the win and claiming the overall victory with a 3-1 moto score.

“I just made a couple of mistakes on my part in the first moto, it just made me that much more determined,” said Tricker. “It feels good to get the monkey off my back, I just need to keep grinding away at the rest of the season and see how it goes.”

The series will now head to Sacramento, California for round four of the 10-round circuit alongside the opening round of the AMA motocross championship at the Hangtown Motocross Classic on Friday, 20 May.
