Moss takes round one victory for Motul in Horsham

Link International press release:

There were podiums across the board for Motul supported athletes at Round 1 of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals in Horsham over the weekend, with race wins and round wins to celebrate.

With the season opener welcoming new faces to the Motul Oils family, the brand was well represented on the weekend, with the impressive results for Motul starting from the minute bikes hit the track.

Before racing even got under way, three out of four GoPro Superpole riders were Motul supported athletes. But it was Motul backed National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Kade Mosig who was awarded the Superpole win with a 1:50.340 lap time. Second place was taken by Wilson Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki’s Todd Waters, and in fourth it was Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team’s Jay Wilson who completed the Motul success in qualifying.

When racing kicked off for the MX1 class, long time Motul supported athlete and National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team’s Matt Moss delivered his first round win for 2016, racing to an impressive third place in moto one, and taking the victory in moto two, awarding him the round one victory.

“It was awesome to get the monkey off my back and show everyone that after everything I’m still here to win a championship, and I’ve got the speed to do it,” Moss shared.

“I’ve had plenty of highs and lows throughout my career but Motul has actually been one of the sponsors who have been there through it all – it was great to reward those guys with the win at round one.

“When you’re racing with products you trust, and with the support of people who believe in you, that’s what wins championships, so I’m excited to show everyone what we can do this year.”

Other Motul supported athletes who dished out impressive results during racing in the MX1 class included Wilson’s Coolair Motul Factory Suzuki’s Waters. Water’s, who despite some bad luck in race one, took third in the final race of the day to finish in fifth overall at Horsham.https://www.motoonline.com.au/wp-admin/media-upload.php?post_id=102640&type=image&TB_iframe=1

Motul supported Mosig who was the fastest man on track in the morning at Horsham, raced to sixth in moto one and fourth in moto two, providing himself and his supporters with 4th overall at the conclusion of the round.

Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team duo Dylan Long and Wilson were also impressive in what was their first outing aboard their Honda machines – Long taking two seventh places to conclude the round in eighth overall, while Wilson who like Waters also made his first appearance in GoPro Superpole, finished in eighth and 11th across both MX1 motos to wrap up round one in tenth overall.

In the Motul MX2 class, National Pump Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team delivered even more podium results with the support of Motul – Jake Moss who returned to competition on the weekend after an injury riddled 2015, raced to second in moto one, and fourth in moto two, finishing round one in an impressive second spot on the MX2 podium.

“Much like my brother, a lot of people thought that we were done, but round one just proves that we still have what it takes to be on top,” Moss shared.

“With the team we have this year, we really have great support around us, and Motul has been a big part of what we have put together.

“Coming back to racing, I wasn’t sure where I was going to be, so to finish round one on the podium it really is awesome and I can’t thank the people around me enough.”

In the Pirelli MXD class, Husqvarna mounted Motul athlete Justin Hart showed encouraging results at round one, racing to a hard fought 9th in moto one, before stepping things up in race two collecting 6th. At the conclusion of the round Hart finished in 6th overall just outside the top five.

Round two of the 2016 Motul MX Nationals is set to be held on April 17, at Appin in New South Wales.
