CDR Yamaha’s Dan Reardon will enter the 2016 Motul MX Nationals with an added spark after soaring to last year’s Australian Supercross Championship victory upon return to fulltime competition.

Reardon, 29, made a shock comeback at the 11th hour in 2015 with the powerhouse CDR Yamaha squad after a full two years in retirement, going on to claim sixth in the outdoor standings.

The SX1 crown in a dominant performance proved Reardon made the right decision into returning to the sport, however the challenge of claiming his first MX Nationals title since 2007 is one that the Gold Coast racer is embracing for 2016.

“Last year, the first time I did a 30-minute moto was at round one of the championship, so now with a good pre-season behind me I think I’m far more prepared for the coming season,” Reardon said. “To win the supercross championship was a good morale booster for me, but I also want to show that I’m not just a supercross guy and that I can ride motocross.

“The MX1 field is good this year with plenty of high quality riders, so the winner will have to be on top of their game. It will be a hard fought championship right from the drop of the gate at round one.”

With a single overall round win at Nowra in New South Wales last year, Reardon will commence his second full MX Nationals campaign out of retirement on board the factory YZ450F at Horsham in Victoria on 3 April.
