Nick Wey will make a return to racing at this weekend’s ninth round of the 2016 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship after stepping away from full-time competition earlier this year.

Wey will join the Team Tedder/Monster Energy Kawasaki racing team this weekend following the departure of former team rider Jake Weimer to the Soaring Eagle/Jimmy Johns/Suzuki Factory Racing team.

Although the veteran rider stepped away from racing full-time, the possibility of racing part-time in the sport he loves was never ruled out according to Wey.

“Racing motorcycles is something that I love, which is why I never ruled out racing altogether,” said Wey. “I was presented the opportunity to complete the rest of the season aboard competitive equipment and I am looking forward to being back at the races having fun.”

Wey will contest the remaining nine rounds on the 2016 supercross calendar, starting this weekend at Daytona International Speedway on 5 March.
