Team Motul Suzuki has announced that Matt Moss and Kale Makeham will sit out the final round of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship this weekend at Knights Stadium in Victoria.

Moss was injured at Sydney’s AUS-X Open last weekend with a severely corked thigh, while teammate Makeham continues to have difficulty with an ankle injury.

“It is a disappointing end to what has been a disappointing year of racing,” Moss commented. “We were right in the hunt for this title until last weekend and I would have liked nothing more to win this championship for those who have supported me over the past few years and also to send Jay, Jess and the team off in the way they deserved.

“I have to thank everyone who has made the past few years possible, I have had some great support from sponsors, family and friends and the team. To walk away with four national championships over three years is a great feeling and something we can all be proud of.”

Makeham said: “I am bummed I will be missing this weeks race. There is nothing better than riding in your home state in front of friends and family.

“With the way the ankle is, there is just know way I could continue to keep riding, every time I ride at the moment it swells up like a balloon and the only way for it to recover is to rest it.

“A big thanks to Team Motul Suzuki for the opportunity this year, while my results have not been where I wanted them to be in the second half of the year and I was sidelined for the majority of supercross, it was a great learning experience. The move to the 450 class was a big eye opener and I will take a lot of valuable lessons into 2016.”

For team manager Jay Foreman, the premature end to the season brings an early close in what has been a fantastic career running the Suzuki factory team.

“What can I say, in all the years I have been racing this is the first time my team has missed a race which is disappointing,” Foreman explained.

“Unfortunately both riders have been advised against riding due to their injuries and we will not be making the trip to Victoria this weekend.

“While it is not the way I wanted my time running the team to end, I can look back and be proud of what we have achieved over the years.

“There has been many titles along the way and we have worked with some of the best riders, mechanics and sponsors over the years and have also seen riders and mechanics come through the ranks and move on from our team to build successful international careers.

“There are too many people to try and thank in one go, but I will speaking and personally thanking those who have supported us over the years, we are proud of what we have achieved and none of it would have been possible without the support of many others.”

Suzuki will continue in a new-look factory effort during 2016 with Wilson MX led by Todd Waters, while Moss has already confirmed he will join NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki next year.
