Bel-Ray provides scholarship for Husqvarna's Higlett

HQVA press release:

Lubricant manufacturer Bel-Ray’s global partnership with Husqvarna Motorcycles has led to a unique opportunity for up-and-coming enduro racer Fraser Higlett to expand his skillset as he looks towards his first full season in seniors.

The 16-year-old Queenslander will take part in the RCU (Ricky Carmichael University) motocross coaching event at Coolum motocross track this Saturday, under the guidance of multiple AMA champion Ricky Carmichael.

Higlett’s involvement comes about as the result of a global partnership between Husqvarna and Bel Ray, which not only sees Bel Ray used as the first-fill lubricant for Husqvarna motorcycles, but the two brands work side by side in the design and development of engines and components.

Higlett has had a spectacular first year of off-road and enduro racing, one which has seen him net class wins in both the Australian Enduro–X Championships early in the year, as well as the Australian Off-Road Championships aboard a Husqvarna FE250.

A little over a fortnight ago he switched to a new Husqvarna TE 300 and rode Australia’s most famous hard enduro at Wildwood as his first senior event, powering to an impressive fourth in the expert class on what was considered by some to be the most testing Wildwood course ever.

Matthew Henderson Sales Manager, Bel-Ray Australia: “Bel-Ray is a sponsor of Ricky Carmichael and Carey Hart’s RCH team in the US, and when the opportunity was offered to us to have an Australian Husqvarna Factory Support rider attend the RCU, Fraser seemed like the perfect candidate. I’m at a conference in Singapore this week for the industrial side of our business otherwise I’d have liked to attend; it sounds like it’s going to be a good day out.”

Fraser Higlett: “It’s pretty cool that they are doing this for me, I really appreciate it. I’ve heard a fair bit about Ricky Carmichael, so it will be pretty cool to ride with him, I haven’t heard that much about the camp but I reckon it will be pretty cool. Motocross is a big part of all the racing that I do; you’ve got corners everywhere you go, and it seems to be that if you’re fast at motocross but you’ve still got the enduro skills, you’re going to go a bit further in off-road racing. Coolum is probably one of my ‘home’ motocross tracks, so I’ve been around there a few times. I’ve been enjoying having a bit of time off with the off-season and doing a bit of jet skiing, so this will be good.””

All of Husqvarna Australia’s Factory Support motocross, off-road and dirt track racing teams use Bel-Ray lubricants. For more information on Husqvarna motorcycles visit www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com
