Verdict:
With both heat race wins and a dominant main event victory, Reardon extended his points lead in an important evening for the title race. Fireworks were witnessed on the opening lap between Reardon and arch-rival Moss before the latter went down, allowing the red plate holder to race off to a third-straight SX1 main event victory. The runner-up was still vital for Moss in an impressive rebound through the field, as Mosig made it two CDR Yamahas on the rostrum in third. This championship battle is all about Reardon and Moss right now, and – as we’ve said before – it’s one of the most engaging rivalries the sport’s witnessed on a domestic level in Australia.

Verdict: The SX2 ranks were turned upside down at J2 for a variety of reasons. Red plate holder Jimmy Decotis was finally upstaged, but it wasn’t by title threat Clout or fellow heat race winner Hunter – that pair crashed out altogether in the main event. Instead it was Woods broke through for a shock victory, controlling the race from the outset and withstanding the pressures of a determined Decotis. While Decotis stumbled on his way to second – including an off-track excursion that eventually resulted in a scary clash with podium contender Wills – it was still a pivotal result in the points race. Completing the podium was Arbon in another strong showing, setting up an entertaining battle at Sydney this weekend.
