Australia’s dual Enduro World Champion Matthew Phillips will depart KTM’s factory team ahead of 2016, absent from the Austrian manufacturer’s rider line-up announced overnight.

Phillips won his first world title as a Husqvarna rider in 2013 before claiming the E3 crown in 2014. He finished this year’s championship, however his future is yet to be confirmed.

KTM Enduro Factory Racing will instead field returning riders Christophe Nambotin and Ivan Cervantes alongside newcomer Nathan Watson, who transfers from Husqvarna’s factory MXGP team to enduro.

“In the traditional enduro we’re very confident that we will have leading KTM enduro factory riders in 2016 because we have a solid mix of proven world champions and new talent,” said KTM Motorsport director Pit Beier. “We will be concentrating on the E1 and E2 classes, because we believe these are the real future of the sport.”

KTM Enduro Factory Racing will again field a very strong line-up for the indoor SuperEnduro and Extreme Enduro disciplines, with Taddy Blazusiak, Jonny Walker, Alfredo Gomez and American Taylor Robert.
