Penrite Honda claim SX2 hat-trick with Adelaide victory

Penrite Honda Racing press release:

Penrite Honda Racing’s Jimmy Decotis remains undefeated in the Australian Supercross Championship SX2 class after claiming his third consecutive round win at Adelaide Showgrounds last night.

Decotis had his work cut out for him in the 15-lap final, having to work his way through the field before taking the lead in the closing laps of the race.

“I rushed things in my heat race and made some mistakes,” Decotis explained. “I had to work hard and come through in the final which is never ideal. “My fitness really came into play tonight and I felt really strong at the end of the event, which helped to make a difference. “To win three in a row is just awesome and I have to pay thanks to all the crew in the Penrite Honda Racing team for all the support they have given me, it’s just been awesome. “I never expected to have three wins from three starts, the competition here is tough and they are keeping me honest,” he added

Teammate Gavin Faith’s charge in the SX1 final met a premature end after a melee with defending champion Matt Moss.

“I got a good jump off the start and felt comfortable in third,” Faith said. “I didn’t see Matt Moss behind and wasn’t prepared for him taking me off the track the way he did. I was completely caught off guard. “When I got back up the bike was twisted and there was a misfire. “To be honest I have felt a little off since Jimboomba,” Faith continued. “I will take a few days to recover and will make some changes to my program before Round 4 to try and get back on top.”

The Penrite Honda Racing team will now prepare for Round 4 of the Australian Supercross Championship at Jimboomba’s X Stadium on Saturday 21 November.
