Penrite Honda aim to capitalise on opening round success

Penrite Honda Racing press release:

After celebrating dual podiums at the opening round of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship last weekend, the Penrite Honda team are looking to carry this momentum through to the second round of the series at Jimboomba X Stadium this weekend.

In his first race on Australian soil, US import Jimmy Decotis won the SX2 class while his teammate, 2014 SX2 Champion Gavin Faith finished third in his opening encounter in the coveted SX1 class.

Decotis, 24, who finished within the top ten of this years AMA Supercross East Coast Lites championship said the Jimboomba track would suit his style of racing.

“Last weekend was amazing, it couldn’t have gone any better,” Decoits said. “This is all a new experience for me and I having a ball. I am looking forward to going to QLD.

“I have seen the track online and I think it will really suit me. It looks the same as everything I have raced in America. “I am expecting a good race. Luke Arbon and Luke Clout were fast and I expect some other riders to do well, like Nathan Crawford and Jackson Richardson,” he continued.

Acknowledging mistakes cost him second place last weekend, Gavin Faith said consistency would be the key to success in Jimboomba on Saturday night.

“My main goal this weekend is to remain consistent,” said Faith. “I made some mistakes in the final at Bathurst which ended up costing me second. “I got caught out over one of the doubles and I was lucky to only lose one position, it could have been a lot worse.

“It was good to get my first race in the SX1 class out of the way. I will be looking for an even better result this weekend,” Faith explained.

It was difficult initiation for Faith’s SX1 teammate Anthony Rodriguez who went down hard in the 17-lap final.

“I need to put last weekend behind me,” Rodriguez said. “It was one of those weekends, where what could go wrong, went wrong. “The lead up wasn’t ideal I had flown to France, back to Florida and then to Australia, there was a lot of upheaval. “I have now had another week on the bike and with the team and I am feeling a lot more settled,” he added.

Round 2 of the Australian Supercross Championship will be held at Jimboomba X Stadium on Saturday 17 October.
