Penrite Honda Wilson MX crack SX2 top five

Wilson MX press release:

Penrite Honda Wilson MX has recorded a successful first hit out at round one of the 2015 Australian Supercross Championship in Bathurst last weekend, with both SX2 pilots Jackson Richardson and Geran Stapleton recording top five finishes.

With the SX2 class jam packed with local and international talent, the Wilson MX boys rose to the occasion, proving that their four-man team has the ability to run with this year’s top contenders.

With a full night of action in store for the hundreds of spectators who flocked to the venue, Richardson, Stapleton, Luke Wilson, and Jake Williams fought hard in tough conditions to put on an impressive show.

Jackson Richardson SX2 – 4th Overall

“I feel pretty good with my result from the weekend – I struggled a little bit with the track, but everyone did with the conditions,” he said. “I wanted to get through the first round safe, and to now be in the hunt for the championship is pretty cool. “I know what improvements I need to make, so hopefully we can change things up a bit and I’ll be able to step things up again at the next round.”

Geran Stapleton SX2 – 5th Overall

“I’m pretty happy with how my weekend went, I did feel that I could have gone a bit better but all in all it’s not a bad result for round one,” he said. “The conditions were really tough but I actually enjoyed myself out there. “I’m a bit sore now but I’m staying in Queensland this week, so we’ll have a couple more days on the bike and then be ready for this weekend.”

Jake Williams SX2 – 21st Overall

“It was a pretty tough weekend to be honest. I had a huge crash and was lucky to ride at all,” he said. “I’m felling pretty sore and sorry for myself now that’s for sure. “I managed to make it in to the main which was good, but it was more about surviving the race than anything else. “We have a few days now to get ready for the next round, so I’m just trying to do as much recovery as possible so I can be as close to 100% per cent for Jimboomba this weekend.”

Luke Wilson SX2

“It was not my weekend at round one, but I’m just going to keep pushing forward and looking towards next weekend,” he said. “One of the positives from the weekend though was that we have an awesome set up on the Honda, so even though I didn’t have a great night, the bike handled perfectly. “I’ll be taking the lessons out of last weekend, and fingers crossed I can turn things around at round two.”

The Wilson MX Team will now head to Jimboomba on October 17 for Round 2 of the Australian Supercross Series.
