Penrite Honda Wilson MX charged and ready for round nine

Wilson back for both MX2 motos alongside Stapleton.

Wilson MX press release:

Penrite Honda Wilson MX will head to one of it’s favourite tracks on the 2015 MX Nationals calendar, as the series marches on to Echo Valley in Toowoomba for round nine of this years’ series.

With the season now reaching it’s final stage,s the Penrite Honda privateer effort will take on the challenging Echo Valley circuit this weekend, in the hope that both MX2 pilots can head to Coolum healthy, and finish off their season smiling.

Luke Wilson, who has been dealing with a thumb injury sustained prior to round seven, says Toowoomba will provide the opportunity to race on familiar ground, and says he cannot wait for gates to drop on Sunday.

“My thumb is feeling a lot better, I haven’t had a lot of time on the bike, so my bike fitness is down a bit, but I can definitely get out there this weekend and do both races,” he said.

“I love Toowoomba, so it’s the best round for me to come back for. I’ve had a bit of experience at the track, so although that’s not a huge advantage, I do enjoy the venue a lot.

“For a spectator, Toowoomba is probably the best place to watch on the MX Nationals calendar, and for a rider it’s rough, rutty and technical. We have an awesome setup with the Honda so we’re good to go for this weekend.”

For Geran Stapleton, the opportunity to race Toowoomba could not have come soon enough, and says he’s looking forward to getting stuck into the last two rounds of this years’ MX Nationals season.

“I haven’t raced at Toowoomba since 2009 I think, both of the other times the Nationals has gone there I’ve been injured so I’m pretty excited to get into it this weekend,” he said.

“I’ve got in some good bike time over the last few weeks, and I actually raced down in Victoria so it’s been good to get that in too before we head off for the last two rounds.

“The track at Toowoomba is pretty different to any of the other tracks on the calendar, so I think it will definitely sort us all out, and we’ll be in for some good racing on Sunday that’s for sure.”

The Wilson MX Team will now head to Toowoomba on August 23 for Round 9 of the MX Nationals. For spectator information head to www.mxnationals.com.au.
