Round nine of the 2015 MX Nationals will play host to an additional round of the Yamaha Rising Star Rookies on, Sunday, 23 August, as the series heads into it’s final stages in Queensland.

After the success of the Rising Star Rookies class in Victoria and New South Wales, Williams Event Management, in conjunction with Yamaha Australia have added Toowoomba to the Rookie’s calendar.

MX Nationals series promoter Kevin Williams is excited to be offering the young stars of the future further opportunities to perform alongside Australia’s premier motocross championship.

“We are very excited to have added the Toowoomba round of the MX Nationals to the Yamaha Rising Star Rookie’s Program for 2015,” he said.

“This is yet another the chance for these young kids to show the big manufacturers, and team managers alike, just what they have to offer – and to have them racing on the same circuit as Australia’s best is always great to see.

“The Yamaha Rising Star Rookie’s class is jam packed with talent, and with the likes of Hunter Lawrence who has just returned from his success in Spain, as well as Cody Dyce, Hugh McKay and more, we are going to see some exciting racing on August 23.”

For Yamaha mounted Lawrence, who has just returned from a podium position at the 2015 World Junior Motorcross Championships, the opportunity to race alongside Australia’s best is a welcome one and he is looking forward to backing up his top results.

“I can’t wait to head to Toowoomba and race on another national track. It should get rough and rutted and be a good day of racing,” he said. “Having the Rookies class is definitely a great stepping stone to the MXD class.

“In Europe they have the EMX 125 class, which is the same in a sense, so I think it’s a great idea. It’s awesome to have the opportunity to ride on tracks that we’ll be racing the following year.

“It’s a good opportunity to perform in front of the big team managers and it’s a good chance for those guys to have a bit of a scout and see what their options are for the future for sure.”

In addition to round nine, the Yamaha Rising Star Rookies will have their final hit out for the year when the MX Nationals heads to Coolum for the closing round of the 2015 series.

Those wishing to participate in the Yamaha Rising Star Rookies class at Toowoomba or Coolum are encouraged to get their entries in quick and can do so via the MX Nationals website at www.mxnationals.com.au.
