Grabham returns with podium at Yellow Mountain

Grabham claims third place at 2015 Yellow Mountain Cross Country.

Sherco Australia press release:

Just five weeks after breaking his shoulder in a practice crash, Motul Pirelli Sherco Enduro Team rider Broc Grabham placed third in the Yellow Mountain Cross Country in NSW yesterday. It was always going to be a tough ask after such a sidelining injury, but the defending Yellow Mountain Champion took on the two-day event in central western NSW aiming for the podium.

Despite not riding at all in the past five weeks to allow his shoulder crucial healing time, Grabham posted the fastest prologue aboard the all-new Sherco 450SEF-R. This put Grabham’s number-one machine at the front of the field for the opening day off racing from Condobolin to Tottenham on Saturday, a fast 220km.

Yellow Mountain is an annual two-day race between Condobolin and Tottenham, NSW. The 220km each-way course takes in fast open tracks, snotty Mallee trails and rocky hills. Riders complete a prologue prior to the race start to determine the starting order and Grabham surprised the competition by posting the fastest time.

“It was good to win prologue and start the race at the front,” explained Grabham. “My shoulder felt okay but with an injury like this I didn’t want to lay it all on the line just yet so a clear track was a bonus.” Grabham said after Saturday’s ride.

Grabham put in a clean and fast run to Tottenham on Saturday arriving at the finish line in third place in a time of 2-hours, 38-minutes and one second. Sunday’s 220km return leg to Condobolin had Grabham sitting comfortably in third and smart riding saw him hold the position for the remainder of the race. Grabham completed Sunday’s leg in 2-hours, 37-minutes and 15-seconds.

“Although I really wanted to keep my number-one plate for this race I’m just glad to be back racing so soon,” said Grabham. “Considering the minimal preparation I’ve had I’m really happy to put the Sherco 450 on the podium. My bike was great and it just feels good to be back on track. I’ll just get back into training and working on my speed for the last two rounds of the AORC in couple of weeks’ time.” explained Grabham

Broc Grabham and the Motul Pirelli Sherco Enduro Team will be in action August 15 and 16 for rounds 11 and 12 of the Australian Off-Road Championship at Dungog, NSW.
