World MX Champion and AMA Supercross Champion Ben Townley will return to Australia and the Penrite Honda Racing team to contest the final three rounds of the MX Nationals.

After taking a win in his return to racing in Australia in May, Townley resumed training and testing for Honda in Japan.

The World Champion has since stepped up his race preparation in readiness for the final three races of the MX Nationals and is looking forward to racing at Norwa this coming weekend.

“I have been busy this season with testing obligations for Honda which has taken me to a lot of different locations throughout the world,” Townley said.

“I am looking forward to visiting Nowra and racing on a track I have never been to before.”

The Penrite Honda Racing team will also be sporting a new partner for the next three events in Berry Sweet Strawberries. Their support along with increased suport from Honda Genuine Parts, Honda, Pirelli, and Penrite has been fundamental in securing Townley for the remainder of the championship.

Team principal Yarrive Konsky appreciates the support of his partners and welcomes Berry Sweet Strawberries to the team.

“It is great that I could call out to our partners for additional support to bring Ben back to Australia,” Konsky said.

“He is an asset to our team and to the championship. West Australian Strawberry farm Berry Sweet have also got behind Ben and helped make it all possible which is greatly appreciated.”

The Penrite Honda team will contest the highly competitive MX1 class with two riders as Townley joins current New Zealand MX1 Champion Cody Cooper. Cooper whose highest place moto finish for the season is a third, hopes to rise to the occasion and compete for a podium position.

“I stayed back following the last round in order to train and ride,” Cooper explained.

“I have worked closely with the team and got some good practice in over the past few weeks. My main goal is to improve on previous finishes.”

Round 8 of the MX Nationals will be held on Sunday August 2 in Norwa, NSW.
