GEICO Honda has confirmed that Eli Tomac will sit out the remaining rounds of the 2015 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, due to undergo double shoulder surgery according to the team.

Tomac was the form rider of the season, winning both motos at Hangtown and Glen Helen in commanding fashion. However after winning the opening moto at Thunder Valley, a crash while leading the second has spelt an end to his season.

“Eli was understandably upset when we were talking a little while ago,” GEICO Honda team co-owner Jeff Majkrzak said. “Obviously after the start he’s had we were all hoping for a championship run. Injuries are an unfortunate part of this sport and this one is very tough for all of us.”

It’s understood that Tomac’s left shoulder has suffered a 100 percent tear of the rotator cuff, requiring immediate surgery. His right shoulder was dislocated in the crash, put back into place by the Asterisk Medical Team, and will most likely require surgery as well.
