Round seven of the 2015 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis took place at Marvin’s Mountaintop in Masontown, West Virginia for the Rocky Mountain ATV MC Mountaineer Run GNCC.

Factory FMF/KTM’s Kailub Russell returned to the top step of the XC1 Pro class podium, fending off AirGroup/Rockstar Energy/Husqvarna’s Ryan Sipes for the victory while Thad DuVall finished an impressive third.

“We kind of went back and fourth a few times the next couple laps and it was just tough the first few laps reading the trail and not knowing where some rocks were that you could hit,” said Russell.

Russell holds the championship lead, 79 points ahead of N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha’s Grant Baylor. Meanwhile Australia’s Josh Strang missed the round with a shoulder injury and slipped back to third in the standings but tied with Baylor.

Daniel Milner also sat out the round following a difficult start to his season, returning to Australia in a bid to regain 100 percent health before continuing on in the series.

The 2015 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series resumes 7 June with the Wiseco John Penton in Millfield, Ohio.
