Radar: 2015 MX Nationals Rd1 Horsham

Unsung performers from Horsham's first stop of the season.

MotoOnline.com.au highlights three standout performances from the weekend’s first round of the 2015 MX Nationals at Horsham, Victoria. Radar isn’t intended to be strictly about the winners, it’s about the unsung racers that we spot punching above their weight on any given race weekend.

Dylan Long (Tattoo Racing Yamaha) – MX1, 7th overall:
We knew Long would be quick at Horsham, but didn’t really expect him to challenge for the top five as he did straight up on Sunday. Riding a private YZ450F, Long finished with 8-7 results for seventh overall and looks like he belongs in the premier ranks already. His pace was genuinely there with a bunch of the factory guys, so once he gains confidence and experience in MX1 he will be well inside the top 10 and potentially the top five on a regular basis.

Dan Reardon (CDR Yamaha) – MX1, 18th overall:
After taking a full two years out from the sport when he retired at the close of 2012, Reardon’s overall result looks like he might’ve struggled upon return. But that finish came via a 5-DNF scorecard when his bike failed him in moto two and it was plain to see he has what it takes to contend once again. Reardon made Super Pole (a huge achievement) and then stormed to fifth in moto one despite an early incident with Adam Monea, passing a lot of top riders in the process. He’s back!

Dylan Wills (KTM) – MX2, 10th overall:
Wills – a test rider of MotoOnline.com.au – was hugely impressive in his MX2 debut, despite making minimal outdoor appearances in recent seasons. After winning the Under 19s title in Supercross and having form on his side, Wills was third in qualifying and went 7-9 for equal sixth, but seventh on countback overall. His holeshot in moto one showed he has his starts dialled, so from here, Wills will benefit largely from further experience in the MX Nationals.
