Shoalhaven City recognising importance of motocross

Shoalhaven City will be hosting the eighth round of the 2015 MX Nationals.

Exciting news for the local Shoalhaven community, Shoalhaven City will be hosting the eighth round of the 2015 MX Nationals on Sunday, 2 August.

This exciting event will see the country’s most talented Motocross riders competing for the prestigious national title at the Nowra Motoplex.

Motorcycling New South Wales has recently made significant upgrades to the venue making for a thrilling day of racing.

Mayor Joanna Gash said she was particularly pleased to see the Shoalhaven hosting a round of the 2015 MX Nationals saying the event was expected to inject over $250,000 into the local economy.

“Council is certainly extremely excited to be able to bring such an exciting and prestigious event as the 2015 MX Nationals to the Shoalhaven,” said Clr Gash.

“The event will provide local residents with the opportunity to witness the nation’s most talented motocross riders competing on a high quality and challenging course.

“Further to this, the MX Nationals are expected to bring hundreds of competitors, officials and supporters to the area in what will be a huge boost for the local economy.”

For series promoter Kevin Williams the chance to take the championship to Nowra is a welcome opportunity, praising Council for throwing their support behind the ever-growing series.

“It has been a long time since the MX Nationals has been to the Nowra region and we are extremely excited to be heading back there,” said Williams.

“To have the opportunity to work with Motorcycling New South Wales on the development of another great venue is just part of the ethos of the MX Nationals. We pride ourselves on going to venues and developing them for the long term.

“It is great to have the council on board not only to recognize the importance of the event to the region, but the importance of developing another great venue for years to come.”

The MX Nationals is part of Council’s Sports Tourism Program which is supported by Shoalhaven City Council’s Sports Tourism partners:
