KTM Australia is pleased to announce the partnership of its highest profile racing teams with creative riding gear manufacturer Troy Lee Designs and Sony Action Cameras.

The two-year deal makes Troy Lee Designs and Sony Action Cameras official sponsors of the KTM Motocross Racing Team, KTM Junior Motocross Racing Team and KTM Off Road Racing Team (which now incorporates enduro and desert racing squads).

The deal is something of a parallel to TLD’s home in the US where Troy Lee Designs now sponsors an official Red Bull KTM factory lites team featuring Shane McElrath, Jessy Nelson and Darryn Durham.

Upon announcing the agreement with Australian distributor Lusty Industries, KTM General Manager Jeff Leisk said his own relationship with Troy Lee began almost 30 years ago.

“I’ve had a relationship with Troy Lee since I was racing in America,” said Leisk. “When I first went there he was painting my helmets, working out of a tiny little shed out at Corona airport in California.

“I’ve known the guy for a long time so it feels pretty cool to connect again and represent his products with KTM – especially now that he’s aligned with KTM America as well. Being a premium product in its design and construction it’s a good fit with KTM.

“Part of this deal also incorporates the Sony cameras and our guys will be using those throughout the year.”

Johnny McLean, managing director, Lusty Industries is in his own words, “completely pumped” with the relationship.

“KTM Australia has developed a world-class racing effort in our own backyard, so to be partnered with a company with so much focus and investment in the development of the sport and its future is perfect for Troy Lee as a brand, and for Lusty as a company,” he said.

“It’s more than just a product relationship where we sit in the office and send out gear. We’ll be at the track with the guys, listening to them, hearing their feedback and then taking that back all the way to Troy Lee and to Sony. It’s a two-way communication path.

“With the Sony Action Cameras we’ll also be developing a bunch of video content and filming the whole story, getting to know the riders off the track and at the track.”
