Blake ‘Bilko’ Williams will enter this weekend’s X Games in Austin, Texas, as a gold medal favourite in the Moto X Speed and Style contest after finishing runner-up last year.

Bilko is a four-time X Games medalist and is competing in X Games for the fifth time in his career, winning his only gold medal in 2009 in Moto X Freestyle. He missed 2010 and 2011 due to injury.

“I believe I’m better prepared than ever before for X Games,” the 29-year-old said. “Obviously last year I did Freestyle and Speed and Style, but this year I’ve toned it back down to just focus on Speed and Style. Over the years I’ve always thrown everything on the line and it’s either left me doing well in contests or in the back of an ambulance.

“I’m definitely fired up this year, everything’s looking good; I’ve got my tricks sorted, corner speed sorted, starts sorted. So as long as I go out and ride my best, stay healthy and give it everything I could, I’ll be happy.”

Moto X Speed and Style fuses supercross style racing with insane freestyle motocross tricks. Riders fight for the best lap time and trick execution in a head-to-head elimination battle.

The finals of the Moto X Speed and Style competition will be between 5:00-9:00am AEST this Sunday on ESPN.

Other Australians scheduled in the X Games mix this weekend include Rob Adelberg (Freestyle), Josh Sheehan (Freestyle), Clinton Moore (Freestyle), Jackson Strong (Freestyle), Chris Hollis (Enduro X) and Jack Field (Enduro X).
