The Australian Motocross Championship GoPro Super Pole qualifying session has been revised for 2014.

At tomorrow’s opening round of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, points awarded in the Super Pole session – for the MX1 category only – won’t be attributed to the round’s overall results.

Instead, points credited during the popular single-lap qualifying format will solely go toward the championship tally.

Five points will again be rewarded to the Super Pole winner, followed by four for second, three for third, two for fourth and one for fifth. If a rider leaves the circuit during their single qualifying lap, they will be ranked fifth and won’t attain any points.

It’s a pivotal change in the regulations ahead of the new season, after last year’s inaugural Super Pole format often directly affected overall round results including vital podium placings at various rounds.

Fastest qualifier at each round of the season will also be awarded $500 per round once again.

GoPro Super Pole is scheduled for 9:30am on Sunday when the opening round commences at the Broadford State Motorcycle Sport Complex. Click here for MotoOnline.com.au’s Fan Guide.
