Entry lists for the Monster Energy MX Nationals have peaked ahead of tomorrow’s opening round of the season at Broadford, featuring talent-filled classes across the championship.

Williams Event Management (WEM) director Kevin Williams is pleased with the entry lists ahead of round one, anticipating a strong start to the season on Sunday.

The increase comes after a number of new initiatives to increase privateer attendance, including North/South sub-categories within the pro ranks.

In total there will be 127 quality riders behind the gates – 107 of those privateer entrants in a significant boost for the sport.

“The entry numbers are looking really solid at this point,” Williams said. “We’re at 50 in MXD, which is full, 47 in MX2 and 30 in MX1 so we’re very excited.

“The anticipation is building and it is all going to come to a climax when the gate drops at around 10:30am on Sunday.”

The Broadford State Motorcycle Sport Complex has been upgraded for round one, just another integral piece in preparing for the first round of 10 this year.

“Everything has come together very well,” Williams added. “The track is in A1 condition and we’re all looking forward to a big weekend.

“The excitement always builds when the trucks start to roll through the gates and today has been no exception.”
