Motorcycling Australia officially announces new CEO

Former Speedway Australia boss to replace David White.

The Board of Motorcycling Australia (MA) has confirmed the appointment of Dale Gilson as CEO of MA, commencing in May.

President of the MA Board of Directors Stephen Foody and vice president Ray Jonkers were part of a selection panel that was tasked with finding a candidate who demonstrated a capacity to successfully manage a major sporting organisation at senior management level in all facets.

Gilson brings to MA a broad knowledge of the sporting landscape in Australia and is excited to begin work for the organisation.

Most recently CEO of Speedway Australia for the last five years and CEO of Four Wheel Drive Victoria prior, Gilson is no stranger to motorsports in Australia.

“I would like to thank the Motorcycling Australia Board for the opportunity to join the MA team,” Mr Gilson said. “And I am looking forward to the challenge and working with the MA staff, state bodies and all the key stakeholders in the best interests of motorcycling in Australia.”

After a number of high quality candidates were interviewed for the position, Gilson proved the most suitable by the MA Board, guided by the selection panel.

The interview process focused on leadership, finance, marketing and communications, sport development, volunteer management and engagement, conflict resolution, working with a board and an ability to work with government across all levels

“Dale Gilson has demonstrated abilities across the core responsibilities for the position and interviewed as highly acceptable in other areas of concern,” Jonkers said of the new CEO.

Gilson will begin as CEO at MA on 12 May 2014, replacing outgoing CEO David White.
