Australian Jay Wilson’s return to Taupo this weekend for the final round of the 2014 New Zealand Motocross Championship marks his first appearance at the venue since he won a world championship there in 2009.

Wilson became Australia’s first Junior Motocross World Champion in the 85cc division back in 2009, and five years on is excited to return to Taupo as an established professional both in Australia and NZ.

“My speed and fitness is close to where it should be and working with the whole Altherm JCR Yamaha team has been awesome for me,” said Wilson. “Arriving in Taupo this weekend also brings with it some great memories from winning my World title there in 2009.

“I haven’t been back since, and the opportunity to race there again is awesome. I want to finish the series strong for myself and the team!”

Wilson currently sits third in the MX2 standings with one round remaining, before he turns his attention to the Australian MX Nationals with Serco Yamaha next weekend at Broadford.
