Wilson MX will field Jake Emanuelli alongside returning rider Luke Wilson in 2014, the team switching to Honda in the MX2 category of the upcoming Monster Energy MX Nationals.

The privateer outfit has secured backing from Honda Australia, Jetpilot and Gas Imports with its leading products, Thor, Michellin and EBC Brakes for this season.

“Up until two weeks ago, I didn’t think I was going to be able to race this year at all,” Emanuelli said. “I hadn’t been offered anything and then the call from Wilson MX came through offering me the ride.

“I’m so happy to have been given this opportunity at such short notice, especially on such a supportive team. I’m excited for the year now and I can’t wait to get to round one.”

Luke Wilson, who has rode for the team since it’s beginning, has expressed his excitement on the addition of a new teammate and spending another year racing with the team.

“It’s awesome to have Jake on the team as a second rider,” he said. “I can’t wait to go racing and have someone to train with throughout the year.

“Having been with the team since its beginning, means I have got to see it develop and grow and it just gets better every year.”

Team manager Neale Wilson is confident that both riders will do well in representing the Wilson MX brand and their sponsors throughout the motocross season.

“I have been delighted by the support provided by Honda Australia and Gas Imports,” he explained. “It’s because of them that we have been able to offer both Jake and Luke the opportunity to race for the team this year.

“We are really looking forward to seeing the team step up to a two-rider effort for all 10 rounds of the MX Nationals. It just wouldn’t have been possible without our new partners Honda Australia, and Gas Imports, plus all of our loyal existing sponsors from 2013.”

The Australian Motocross Championship will commence at Broadford on Sunday, 30 March.
