Red Bull Ice One Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Todd Waters starred at Sicily’s second round of the International Italian Motocross Championship on Sunday, capturing third overall in both the MX1 and Elite categories.

Waters scored his first podium aboard the FC450 he’ll race in the 2014 MXGP World Championship, behind Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM) and Jeremy Van Horebeek (Yamaha).

“It feels fantastic to come away with two podium results in Sicily,” Waters beamed. “I’m happy for myself but also for the team – the hard work we’ve put in is beginning to show.

“The MX1 race went quite well, I got a good start and that made the difference for me. After a couple of laps I worked my way into second and even set the fastest lap of the race. But towards the end I made a couple of mistakes and slipped back to third.

“In the Elite race I got into third early on and set about putting a solid race together. To end the day with two third place results is great, I really enjoyed it.”

The result sees Waters elevated to third in both championships amongst an all-star international field of competitors.
