Australia’s Chad Reed has confirmed that he sustained three broken bones in his dramatic crash on the final lap at San Diego’s sixth Monster Energy Supercross round yesterday.

Reed revealed this afternoon via social media following MRI scans and X-rays that he has sustained a broken scapula, collarbone and T1 vertebra in the incident.

After spending the night under observation in a San Diego hospital, Reed checked himself out and underwent further scans at a different location.

Despite his injuries, which came just seven days after winning his second race of the season at Anaheim, Reed will attempt to race in Texas this coming weekend at round seven.

Reed was credited 12th in the San Diego main event, now third in the standings and 15 points in arrears of triple defending champion Ryan Villopoto.
