Queenslander Brenden Harrison matched his best result of the 2013 Australian Supercross season in Toowoomba, storming to second behind newly-crowned champion Luke Styke.

Fresh from winning the QLD state title, Choice Motorsport KTM’s Harrison came up just 0.783 seconds short of his first SX-Lites victory of the season in a thrilling 15-lap main event.

The result was another indication of Harrison’s admirable progression in his comeback from multiple injuries, now setting his sights on the 2014 MX Nationals.

“I’m pretty happy,” Harrison beamed. “I really wanted to win tonight and I did everything I could – made some passes and I got close, but I just couldn’t quite get there.

“It’s been a good season and we’ve progressed at every round, which is fantastic, but there’s a lot more room for improvement.

“I think we used the season perfectly and now I’m really looking forward to round one of the motocross championship.”

The result boosted him to fifth in the championship, despite a DNF in round two at Darwin.

Earlier this week Harrison underwent surgery to remove a screw from his knee, which has plagued him at times during the season.
