Australian Dean Ferris has been linked to a shock switch to the United States with Red Bull KTM for 2014, according to Motocross Action in the US.

MXA is reporting that Ferris has already tested with Red Bull KTM in recent weeks, despite being announced for the Dixon Yamaha MXGP team in September. He’s also reportedly been in discussions with other American teams.

Speculation has been mounting that Ferris’ deal with Yamaha is uncertain even after the team confirmed his position for next year.

A stunning appearance at the FIM Motocross of Nations immediately attracted the attention of US teams including KTM manager Roger de Coster.

Red Bull KTM had Canadian champion Austen Politelli contest the Monster Energy Cup in a guest appearance last month, with de Coster considering adding an additional 250 rider to the program alongside Marvin Musquin full time since Ken Roczen is stepping up to the 450.

MotoOnline.com.au has been unable to get a hold of Ferris for comment at time of posting.
