Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Clement Desalle is to undergo an operation on his dislocated his left shoulder, damaged during the second heat at the 2013 Motocross of Nations at Teutschenthal in Germany.

A first corner pile-up ended the in-form Desalle’s role in Team Belgium’s overall victory alongside teammates Ken de Dycker and Jeremy Van Horebeek.

Scans have shown that a shoulder operation is needed, in which the shoulder plate that was inserted after a similar race incident in 2011, at Mol in Belgium, will be removed.

The reconstructive surgery is scheduled for this Friday and forces the 25-year-old Belgian to take a month off to recover.

This setback forces Desalle out of Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s scheduled tests to prepare the 2014 season, the Give Me 5 event in Madrid and the Superbiker race in Mettet.

Desalle hopes to rejoin competition at the first pre-season events to prepare for the 2014 world championship.
