Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s newest US import Weston Peick brushed off a lacklustre Saturday showing to score a strong podium finish in Sunday’s second leg of the Darwin Australian Supercross Championship double-header.

The highly-regarded Supercross and Motocross talent made a solid start to round one’s main event but crashed while attempting a pass while running fifth.

He remounted to recover to an eventual seventh-place finish, experiencing a struggle with suspension as with many other riders on the deteriorating surface.

Peick turned around his fortunes on Sunday with a much more consistent showing, running at the head of the pack before being demoted to second by round one winner Matt Moss.

The podium is confirmation that the American rider is finding his feet on the factory Honda CRF450R after limited time on the bike.

“We had a lot better day [on Sunday],” said Peick. “We made a lot of changes to the bike for today and everything seemed to come together better.

“I got a good start and it helped to not be fighting from the back. The team is coming together I am starting to get more comfortable on the new bike.”

After the second of six rounds Peick holds down third on the Pro Open points ladder, a single point clear of defending class champion Jay Marmont.

The podium result completes a solid weekend for Carlton Dry Honda with Gavin Faith sitting equal first in the Pro Lites ranks.
