Motorcycling Australia has moved to recognise the efforts and success of Williams Event Management in hosting the Australian Motocross Championships in its Annual General Meeting Report.

WEM is nearing two decades as promoter of the outdoors under the heavily-branded MX Nationals banner, which has become one of the benchmark domestic series on the international calendar.

“The Motocross championship continues to solidify Williams Event Management‘s (WEM) reputation for delivering quality events,” the report read.

“WEM deserves accolades for their continued and successful promotion of the championship.

“Whilst as a collective group we may not acknowledge it, this championship is arguably one of the most successful national championships and outperforms many other nations who have advantages in terms of logistics and potential rider numbers.”

Last year’s Monster Energy-backed MX Nationals championships were won by Josh Coppins (CDR Yamaha), Ford Dale (Carlton Dry Honda) and Kayne Lamont (CMR Red Bull KTM) in MX1, MX2 and MXD respectively.

The 2013 MX Nationals series is currently going down to the wire between rising Aussie talents Matt Moss (Motul Pirelli Suzuki) and Todd Waters (Motorex KTM), as just 11 points separate the pair entering rounds nine and 10 of the series to be contested over consecutive weekends in Queensland.

In addition, MA also sees the newly-formed Australian Supercross Championship as a positive platform to build from following its first full year under International Entertainment Group (IEG) promotion in 2012.

“International Entertainment Group also commenced promoting the Supercross Championship in 2012,” the report stated. “The championship has great potential and received positive exposure as a support event during the MotoGP in October.

“Once again promotional costs, particularly venue hire and track build provide a huge challenge to a positive financial outcome.”

The 2012 Supercross series was taken out by Jay Marmont (Monster Energy Kawasaki) in Pro Open, Gavin Faith (Carlton Dry Honda) in Pro Lites and Kale Makeham (TuneTech KTM) in Under 19s.

IEG will again host the series this season, commencing at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Raceway on 14-15 September.
