Zero Seven Motorsports’ Kade Mosig will miss the remainder of the Monster Energy MX Nationals season in order to rehabilitate a problematic knee injury.

The MX2 class frontrunner competed at Appin and Hervey Bay with a torn MCL ligament in his right knee, pushing on through the pain to score top three finishes on both occasions.

Mosig, who was also sidelined for rounds four and five with injury, concedes he is out of title contention and has made the decision to focus on his Australian Supercross Championship campaign at full fitness.

“It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks that’s for sure,” said Mosig. “I’ve felt awesome on the bike, but my knee has been giving me a lot of grief.

“I haven’t been able to push as hard as I would like that’s for sure.

“I’m out of contention for the [MX Nationals] Championship, so I’m going to rest up for a couple of weeks so I know I’m 100 percent ready for Supercross – I want to win it!”

The team will again call upon the services of Mosig’s previous replacement, Dylan Peterson, for the final three rounds, beginning this weekend in Swan Hill.

“It’s a bummer for Kade that he is injured, especially since he has been riding so well in the past couple of rounds,” said Peterson.

“I am really excited to get the opportunity to compete in the MX Nationals again. I can’t thank Mark Haughton and the team enough.”

The 21-year-old should come into his own at the final two events. Queensland born and raised, Peterson has extensive racing experience at Toowoomba and Coolum, and can push for top results without any larger championship implications.

“I’ve had some really good results at the Toowoomba track and practically grew up racing around Coolum,” he said. “I’ve done plenty of laps around both, which will definitely help me get back into the swing of things!”
