Fan Guide: 2013 MX Nationals Rd6 Appin

Australian Motocross Championships return this Sunday in New South Wales.

The 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals Australian Motocross Championship returns this weekend at Appin in New South Wales following a mid-season six-week break.

Leading the charge in the MX1 class is Motorex KTM’s Todd Waters, but the Queenslander is currently under an injury cloud following a broken collarbone under two weeks ago.

Although Waters is injured, he will be heading out to Appin’s Bellbird circuit this Sunday in damage control mode to keep his premier class championship hopes alive.

Hot on Waters’ heels is Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Matt Moss. Moss sits 25 points behind Waters currently and is returning from a recent training trip in the US – keep your eye on the number 102 this weekend.

Rounding out the top three is CDR Yamaha’s Billy Mackenzie, the Scotsman trails Moss by 18 points with five rounds remaining and will be searching for the overall win this weekend.

Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke continues to lead the MX2 championship chase, followed by teammate Luke Clout and Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Josh Cachia.

The MXD category makes it’s return to the series this weekend at Appin, Kiwi rider Hamish Harwood leads that pack with Jesse Dobson and Jack Simpson rounding out the top three.

Another exciting addition for this weekend’s event will be the second round of the KTM 2-Stroke Cup. Errol Willis currently leads the premix class which is always a favourite with the fans.

MotoOnline.com.au will compile an official pre-race Fan Guide ahead of every round in 2013.
