Greatest moment of your career?
I got third in the FIM World Junior Motocross Championship, that was pretty cool. Just because it was in New Zealand and it was in front of a lot of big FIM people.

Toughest race ever?
That’s a tough one, but I’ll probably go with Murray Bridge this year. In the first race I was in neutral on the line and I ended up coming out of the first turn last because I wasn’t in gear.

Then I got to eighth and I ran out of tear-offs, so I had to take my goggles off. I then passed for seventh and had a crash, dropped back to 11th and then got back to 10th. I couldn’t see out of my eyes at all, I was knackered.

Long-term goal?
I want to be racing in America to be honest. It’s getting harder and harder for the Australian’s to get over there, but it’s still one of my main goals.

Favourite track?
I’m not actually a fan of most of the tracks we ride these days. I’d probably have to say the Wanneroo junior track, that was sick.

If you weren’t a racer, you would be?
I’d try to be a professional BMX Rider.

Arch-rival?
I had a fair few when I was younger and then they ended up quitting racing, so I don’t really have an arch-rival.

Greatest inspiration?
Ken Roczen because he’s about half a year older than me and he’s winning AMA nationals.

Superstitions?
I’ve always got to put my right knee brace on first. At the last round of the nationals two years ago I was leading before I crashed and broke my elbow. I couldn’t remember the whole thing, then when I woke up in hospital the next day all I could remember was that I put my left knee brace on before my right [laughs].

Training methods?
A lot of running, I never used to like running, but I’ve started running heaps and swimming heaps. Also skipping believe it or not.

Goal for 2013?
I just want to stay as close to the top as I can and finish it off well. Because I know I wasn’t fit enough coming into this year, now I’ve worked on my fitness heaps since the start of the year. So to finish up as close to front and ride as well as I can every race.

Off The Wall

Best all-time moto DVD/video?
Fox Greatest hits, that was the sickest movie.

Non-bike related hobbies?
BMX, scooters, all that sort of stuff.

Do you read your pit board?
Yeah, sometimes [laughs].

What do you drive?
Volkswagon Transporter.

Favourite magazine?
I don’t read much about motocross to be honest, I don’t really have one [laughs].

What’s on the iPod?
A lot of rap, I love my rap songs. Anything that goes well in a video, those types of songs are sick.

Best thing about the MX Nationals?
30-minute motos, having time to pass people this year is pretty good.

Who will win AMA MX 2013?
[Ryan] Villopoto, but I wish it was [Ryan] Dungey [laughs]. In the 250s, Ken Roczen because he’s the man.

Tell us something we don’t know about you?
I love to film and take photos, but that’s pretty much it. Oh and I’ve never consumed alcohol in my life, never. I’m a real energetic person, so if I had alcohol I’d be the most annoying person [laughs].
