Husaberg’s Jarrod Bewley is impressed with the new Coonawarra venue for rounds seven and eight of the 2013 Yamaha Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC).

Located in South Australia, the venue will hold back-to-back spring rounds through five kilometres of forest and grass track terrain.

Following a track walk today, Bewley is looking forward to the event and looks forward to the circuit developing throughout the event.

“I’ve just come back from walking the two loops we’ll be doing tomorrow and it all looks great,” said Bewley. “They’ve had a fair bit of rain here so the sand looks really good.

“In the five-kilometre pines loop you weave in and out of the forest then finish out on a flat grass track, which is going to get really rough but it’ll be a good race in good weather conditions. I’m looking forward to it.”

Bewley will switch out his usual FE450 for his Finke Desert Race-prepped Husaberg FE501 this weekend in preparation for the upcoming Hattah Desert Race in Victoria.

“I’m riding my Finke FE501 here just to get a few more miles on it before Hattah next weekend,” he explained. “If I’d been leading my class I wouldn’t have switched but the Outright points will accrue no matter what I ride.

“I was able to just switch the suspension that I’ve been running all year on my FE450, and the 501 doesn’t feel that different, just a little more power that makes it easier to pull the high gears, which I hope will work to my advantage. I’ve also got the family here to support me too which is great, so I’m looking forward to a good weekend.”

Bewley currently sits sixth overall in the Outright standings after six rounds of the 12-round schedule for 2013.
