MotoOnline.com.au hits Serco Yamaha's Luke Clout with Five Questions Why.

Serco Yamaha’s Luke Clout has put together quite an impressive rookie season in the MX2 class during the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals to date.

Clinching his first overall MX2 win at round two, Clout put himself on the radar as a heavy hitter in the class and currently sits second overall in points with five rounds remaining.

MotoOnline.com.au caught up with the 18-year-old from New South Wales and hit him with five questions starting with ‘why’.

Why have you had such a solid rookie season in the MX2 class?

I think I just put a lot of hard work in and I’ve definitely done a lot of training. I’ve done all of my homework and I’m definitely confident in myself and the team. The team is such a high-calibre team, so I think that gives me a lot of confidence and I just want to give them good results as well as myself. So I think that’s why.

Why do you think the Serco Yamaha team is such a strong force in the MX2 class?

I think the team is just a solid team. Everyone puts 100 percent effort in from Gavin [Eales] the team owner, to [Michael] Marty the head mechanic. All the mechanics put the work in and obviously Luke [Styke] and myself put the work in. So I think it’s just a combined effort and it’s really showing.

Why do you travel back and forth from New South Wales to Queensland quite regularly?

I train with Dan Reardon at AlterEgoElite, so I come up here quite regularly to train with him and see how my conditioning is. Also I come up to ride different tracks, do a little bit of testing and ride with other boys. There’s a lot of pro’s up here with such as Jay Wilson and whoever else is out at the track.

Why are you excited for the release of the 2014 Yamaha YZ250F?

It’s just a new bike so I’m really excited to get on it. It’s got fuel-injection and everyone’s always excited to get onto a new bike. I’ve only been on the Yamaha’s for one year, so I’m excited for a new change. I think the whole Serco Yamaha team is pretty excited for a new challenge to get the bikes dialed in. It’s going to be good.

Why do you want to make the move to the US in the near future?

I want to go over to America because that’s where the best people in the world are I think. I definitely think I belong over there, so that’s why I want to get over there.
