This weekend’s Conondale round five of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals will mark the halfway point for the 10-round series.

Aboard his Motorex KTM, Todd Waters will lead the MX1 charge into Queensland’s first round on the calender as he continues to hold a 27-point lead over Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Matt Moss.

Following Moss, who took out his first overall win of the year at round four, is CDR Yamaha’s Billy Mackenzie. The Scotsman scored a moto win at Broadford and finds himself 16 points behind Moss.

Rounding out the top five in the premier class is CDR Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping in fourth and Motul Pirelli Suzuki rider Cody Cooper holding down fifth.

In the MX2 it’s Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke who remains in control of the series. Styke currently sits 30 points ahead of his rookie teammate Luke Clout who has already scored himself one overall win this season.

Behind the lead duo of Styke and Clout is Brock Winston. The former privateer will make his debut for the factory-backed Choice Motorsports KTM team this weekend after Dylan Long’s departure from the squad.

Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Josh Cachia holds down fourth position overall and looks to be finding fine form as the series moves on. Rounding out the top five is Kale Makeham aboard his KTM-backed two-stroke.

This weekend’s event will also feature the Vets 30 Plus and Vets 40 Plus classes which will see the likes of Cheyne Boyd and Cameron Taylor getting amongst the action.
