Four-time MX1 Monster Energy MX Nationals champion Jay Marmont is adamant that he can turn his season around following a difficult three-round streak outside the top 10 overall.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki rider opened his season in promising fashion with fourth overall at Raymond Terrace, but has since struggled to piece an entire round together aboard his KX450F.

Marmont was 23rd overall at Murray Bridge following an incident with teammate Adam Monea that caused both to DNF moto one, before a series of mishaps in recent rounds saw Marmont credited 11th at both Wonthaggi and Broadford.

Broadford was a frustrating affair for the 30-year-old, finishing 13th in the first moto and 10th in the second, however he remains in a positive frame of mind as the halfway point of the season looms.

“It was a pretty awful day,” Marmont reflected. “I crashed in practice and went over the ‘bars pretty good and that’s pretty much where my day started and ended. I wasn’t at the right end of the field in the first moto and couldn’t get around riders in front of me.

“I changed to a hard-pack tyre for the second moto and got a good start. I was running about fifth, [Lawson] Bopping and I went into a turn and came together, I came off second best. He put me over pretty good. I got back up in about 12th and passed a couple of riders for 10th.

“I had good battles but not at the right end of the field. Everyone’s behind me 100 percent and know I can do better. I just gotta get that breakthrough race and build from there.”

Current Australian Supercross Champion Marmont now sits 11th in the MX1 standings, 118 points in arrears of Motorex KTM’s Todd Waters.
