GYTR Yamaha’s Jay Wilson has identified his starts as a sticking point after another tough outing in the Monster Energy MX Nationals MXD class at Wonthaggi.

It was a character-building weekend for Wilson who felt he was unable to show his potential after expending much of his energy fighting back in both motos.

Wilson was mixed up in the lap one pile-up in the first moto, forced to remount and make his way back through the pack for a solid fifth place.

Mistiming his start in the second moto meant Wilson was again on the back foot and he admitted he was disappointed with the results despite being able to move back through the field to finish seventh.

“It was another frustrating day where I couldn’t get a good start and as a result I had to come from the back each race,” explained Wilson.

“I can’t show my speed as I’m always in traffic. But it was better than last round and I’m moving forward. If I can get my starts worked out, I’m sure I will get a good result.”

The GYTR Yamaha rider still managed to take a valuable 50 points from the round which helps him to hold down fifth on the championship ladder.

The MXD class championship is led by Jack Simpson on 132 points, from Hamish Harwood on 120 and Jesse Dobson on 109.
