Ford Dale is heading back to the drawing board this week as he aims to eliminate mistakes in a bid to put together consistent and strong performances in his rookie MX1 season with the Carlton Dry Honda Racing team.

Qualifying for each and every GoPro Super Pole so far in the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals season, the Queenslander has proved he has the raw speed, but has been unable to piece it all together during the 30-minute motos.

Dale kicked off his round three Wonthaggi campaign with a fourth in the Super Pole, before multiple dirt samples and bad starts created another sub-par result for the reigning 2012 MX2 champion.

“It was an up and down day today,” Dale said. “I started off really well with second place in qualifying but a couple of crashes in the first moto made it a tough day.

“In the first race I didn’t get the best start but worked my way to fifth then I crashed twice and ended up finishing ninth. In the second moto I got a bad start and made my way up to seventh.”

After his seventh place overall finish in Victoria, Dale made his way to Ben Townley’s facility in New Zealand where he plans to work on his settings and improve his performance Broadford’s round four.

“It’s back to the drawing board this week, we have a little bit of work to do on the bike,” he added. “We will do some more testing with suspension and see if we can improve it for Broadford.”

Dale currently sits eighth overall in the MX1 championship after three rounds of racing on the 10 round schedule.
