CDR Yamaha’s Lawson Bopping has again pin-pointed starts as his weakest link following the opening two rounds of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals.

Bopping has become increasingly frustrated with his starting struggle, an issue he has been battling with throughout the past 12 months.

So far Bopping has put together solid seventh and fourth overall finishes during the Raymond Terrace and Murray Bridge rounds, but believes with a clean first lap he can definitely improve his results.

Despite his frustration, Bopping’s result last weekend elevated him to third in the series, largely thanks to the four points he claimed with second in the Super Pole qualifier.

“The first 10 feet of every race is my downfall at the moment as I just can’t buy a start or get a clean first lap in,” said Bopping. “Once I can get some clear track I seem to be able to pick my way forward.”

The MX1 field is filled with talent for 2013 and Bopping knows he can’t afford to allow any riders an advantage over him.

“With the depth in the championship this year, I can’t afford to give any rider a head start,” he added. “Looks like another week of practicing starts for me.”

Bopping currently sits third overall in the MX1 standings are the series makes its way to Wonthaggi in Victoria this weekend for round three.
