Fallen Australian Off-Road Champion and desert racing legend Toby Price is already showing strong signs of recovery after undergoing major surgery in Brisbane on Friday.

Today marks a fortnight since Price was hospitalised in California after breaking three bones in his neck in a serious crash during the AMA National Hare and Hound round.

The 25-year-old was forced to return to Australia for surgery after insurance complications in the United States delayed proceedings.

Price initially remarked that his procedure had run “better than expected”, and the following day pictures emerged on social media of Price standing with the help of a walking frame and even taking some small steps.

Earlier today Price was standing and walking unassisted, and said he hoped to be leaving hospital shortly where he will stay with a Brisbane-based family for a further period of recovery that will involve return appointments at the hospital.

While early signs are positive, the road to recovery from such an injury will still be a rocky one for the likeable Australian rider and his family.
