The North West Victorian Motorcycle Club will once again host the KTM Hattah Desert Race for 2013 – Australia’s toughest and most popular off-road motorcycle race will run from 5-7 July.

The gruelling race is fought out over eight laps, which will this year stretch out to 38 kilometres through unique Mallee scrubland.

Tight technical sections that will wind through trees, and into open paddocks and sand hills, will test both rider and machine to the absolute limit.

North West Victorian Motorcycle Club president Gary Leeson is excited about this year’s event and the sponsors they have onboard once again for 2013.

“The team at Hattah are proud to announce that once again KTM will be our major sponsor for our 2013 event and we’re really looking forward to a capacity field of competitors in both the juniors and the seniors,” said Leeson.

“Last year was the biggest event we ever had with 572 entrants, which included 180 juniors. The KTM Hattah Desert Race is a unique off-road event that caters for everyone in the family; juniors, seniors and professional riders alike.”

On the evening of Friday, July 5 riders and their families will once again meet and greet each other on Langtree Avenue in Mildura between 5.30pm and 10.00pm.

There will be displays, local bands, a big screen TV, and interviews of the top 10 riders from 2012. Leeson looks forward to the event which brings a large amount of visitors to the area each year.

“The Hattah Desert Race is an exciting, awesome event not only for North West Victorian Motorcycle Club but for Mildura as well,” he added.

“The event brings an enormous amount of visitors to the area. It also gives the local community an opportunity to watch some of who are undoubtedly the best off-road riders in the world. It’s definitely going to be big.”
