Pirelli-shod bikes achieved a clean-sweep of the MX1, MX2 and MXD classes to open the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals season at Raymond Terrace last weekend.

Motorex KTM’s Todd Waters, running the Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 80/100-21 front and 120/80- 19 rear, was in a league of his own and took the best-possible points haul from round one.

On a ripped and heavily-watered track Waters powered to the first GoPro Super Pole win of the season before going on to win both motos in convincing fashion.

Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Cody Cooper put in two top-three finishes to join Waters on the overall podium at the conclusion of the round.

Pirelli Scorpion tyres were the choice of the MX2 class podium place-getters, led by Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke, who, like Waters, won both motos.

Styke chose to run 80/100-21 Scorpion MX Mid Soft 32 front, with matching Mid Soft 32 rear in the 250F specific 110/85-19 size.

Carlton Dry Honda’s Josh Cachia and impressive MX2 rookie Kale Makeham rounded out the top three placings.

KTM’s Jack Simpson completed a relentless Pirelli Scorpion surge as he took overall victory in the Pirelli-backed MXD class.

Many of the Under 19s development class competitors chose to take advantage of the Pirelli Privateer Program, open to all riders in MXD who choose to race on Pirelli.
