Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli wrapped up yet another FIM Motocross World Championship MX1 victory at the Arco Di Trento Italian grand prix over the weekend.

The Italian rider scored himself the Get Athena holeshot award in both MX1 motos and showed strong form throughout each race, earning himself a perfect 1-1 moto scorecard for the event.

Cairoli’s Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Ken De Dycker was second overall on the day. He uses his solid 4-2 scorecard to land himself on the podium.

Taking third overall and rounding out the MX1 podium in Italy was Kawasaki Racing Team’s Gautier Paulin. Paulin showed impressive speed throughout the day, finishing up with a 2-4 moto score to wrap up the event.

Behind Cairoli, De Dycker and Paulin it was Belgium’s Clement Desalle who finished fourth aboard his Rockstar Energy Suzuki World entry with teammate Kevin Strijbos rounding out the top five.

Cairoli continues to lead the MX1 overall standings after four rounds of racing. He sits 37 points ahead of De Dycker in second with Desalle sitting in third place a further six points behind second position.

In the MX2 class it Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings who again swept both motos on the day, continuing his perfect season to date with four overall wins from four rounds.

But Herlings’ wins did not come easy, the Dutch rider suffered from poor starts in both motos, forcing himself to push through the stacked field of riders.

Herling’s Red Bull KTM Factory Racing teammate Jordi Tixier lead much of the first moto before being relegated back to second by his teammate. Tixier finished up the day with a 2-4 scorecard, good enough for second overall on the day.

Third overall in Italy was KTM Mounted Jose Butron. Butron landed himself the final podium position with 6-2 moto finishes, but Australia’s Dean Ferris forced the Spanish rider to work for his result in the second moto.

Ferris, aboard his Monster Energy Yamaha, bounced back from a 31st place finish in moto one to pressure Butron all the way to the finish. The Aussie’s 31-3 moto scores earned him eighth overall in the MX2 class.

Herlings extends his MX2 series lead to 59 points over Tixier while Glenn Coldenhoff sits in third another 13 points back. Ferris currently holds eighth overall in the series after missing one round due to injury.

The FIM Motocross World Championship will now make its way to Sevlievo in Bulgaria for the fifth round of the 2013 series.
