Fan Guide: 2013 MX Nationals Rd1 Raymond Terrace

MotoOnline.com.au has the ultimate guide to Raymond Terrace's opening round of the MXN series.

Yes, it’s that time again! Round one of the 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals is set to kick off this weekend at Raymond Terrace in New South Wales on 14 April.

The 2013 season is already shaping up to be a hotly contested championship is each and every class – not to mention to addition of four rounds of KTM 2-Stroke Cup action amongst other support classes being run throughout the year.

With reigning 2012 MX1 champion Josh Coppins retiring from the sport, 2013 will most certainly bring a fresh title holder at the season finale, and the stacked field is ready to get at it.

Motorex KTM’s Todd Waters finished up the 2012 season as a runner-up and he will definitely be looking to move up that extra position to the top of the box this season.

Veterans of the premier class such as multi-time champion Jay Marmont of the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, Motul Pirelli Suzuki’s Cody Cooper and CDR Yamaha’s Billy Mackenzie will be right there also.

Eager to cement themselves as serious contenders in the MX1 class will be newcomers such as Motorex KTM’s Kirk Gibbs and Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Ford Dale – Dale comes into 2013 off the back of his maiden MX2 championship last year.

In the hotly contested MX2 class Serco Yamaha’s Luke Styke is eager to redeem himself after barely missing out on the title in 2012, alongside him will be promising newcomer to the class, Luke Clout.

Josh Cachia is back this season with his all-new Carlton Dry Honda Racing outfit, the Victorian will be searching for his first MX2 title and will surely be one to watch, as always.

Kayne Lamont, your 2012 MXD champion will make his MX2 debut at Raymond Terrace for the Choice Motorsports KTM team. Joining him in the MX2 class for the first time will be teammate Dylan Long. Expect these two KTM stablemates to be solid in their rookie years.

Throw in the likes of Raceline Pirelli Suzuki’s Ryan Marmont and Troy Lee Designs – Maxima Zero Seven Motorsports’ Kade Mosig, and you can see that we are in for some great racing all season long.

MXD contender Jay Wilson has made the move to the GYTR Yamaha team for 2013, he will enter the season opener as a hot favourite. Joining Wilson on the GYTR Yamaha will be fellow Queenslander Joel Dinsdale – be sure to keep your eyes on this talented duo.

MotoOnline.com.au will compile an official pre-race Fan Guide ahead of every round in 2013.
