The opening round of the 2013 Peter Stevens Motorcycles South Australian Motocross Championship was held at the Whyalla MX Club last weekend.

The weekend saw over 320 bikes take to the track over the two days, with 190 of them being senior entrants.

A familiar face claimed the overall in the Expert Open category aboard his Yamaha YZ450F, with Luke Arbon taking 2-1 results for the overall.

The second moto was won by fellow national regular James Booth-Elliott, however third in moto one denied him the overall. Completing the podium was Matt Clarke with 2-4 finishes.

Dan Banks and Mitchell Norris rounded out the top five overall, while former top national pro Shane Metcalfe finished sixth for the weekend.

The Expert Lites Class victory was captured by Jett Anderson, with back-to-back moto victories for the round to win overall from Steven Semark and the returning Ricky Girdwood.

Aaron Hart and Tyson Whillas rounded out the top five positions in the Lites for the round.

The series will resume at Mount Gambier on 20-21 April.
