Chad Reed will return to the site of the most serious crash of his racing career at this weekend’s seventh round of Monster Energy Supercross at Fort Worth in Dallas.

Twelve months ago his championship charge was brought to a sickening halt when he was thrown from his bike and into the face of a jump as he advanced on the race leader.

Reed sustained multiple injuries which would ultimately rule him out of the remainder of the Supercross championship in addition to the motocross outdoors later in the year.

Fully recovered, he is looking to continue the form he fought with last weekend as he mounted a serious challenge on the race leader before a minor crash halted his progress.

Reed heads to Cowboys Stadium with an enviable record – four wins next to his name makes him the AMA’s most successful rider at the venue.

To add a fifth win he knows he will need to ride with precision, speed and focus that he showed in San Diego a week ago.

“We came so close but yet again the chance to challenge for a win just slipped away,” said Reed. “Everything was in place and I felt comfortable, so to come away with another fifth from the weekend was frustrating.

“We do know we’re on the verge of a win though, and I was able to show that, without the first lap incidents of the other weeks, I am able to push as hard as I ever have.

“I’ve had some good wins here in the past, obviously last season still hangs over us as a real negative from 2012, so the goal is to come away with a positive this weekend.”

Reed holds down fifth place on the 450SX class championship ladder after six rounds of competition.
